“Belonging in the USA: The Story of Michael D. McCarty” shares the journey of a man who even in the face of great obstacles spreads joy wherever he goes. Follow Michael as he evolves from aspiring scientist to the Black Panther Party, from FBI target to serving in the army, from drug addiction to an ashram. The twists and turns of Michael’s life will fill you with hope, laughter and a living example of resilience. Blending interviews with stop motion animation and archival footage, Michael’s story reminds us how we grow through the challenges life throws our way.

How to get to/find the venue:
It's located on the "9th Street historic block" of Auraria campus. To get there by car, from the intersection of Colfax Ave. and Mariposa St., turn north onto St. Francis Way. After one block, you will see parking spaces to the right. Drivers will need to pay at the parking kiosk near the spaces. The Casa Mayan is the first house on the left (gray) as you look north to the block of historic houses. There is free parking south of Colfax on Mariposa St. One can also take the light rail to "Colfax at Auraria" station, which leaves one on Colfax about a half block east of Mariposa St.
